A. The license fee shall state whether the dog is male or female, and with each license a metal tag shall be issued having a number corresponding to the number of the license together with the year of issuance and the words “City of George.” All dog licenses shall be issued for one year and shall expire on December 31st of each year. The applicant for any dog license shall cause the tag to be continuously attached to the licensed dog's collar during the term of the license and the collar shall be furnished by the owner, keeper or harborer for the dog.

B. It is unlawful for any person, who for the purpose of securing the license to falsely represent the age or sex of any dog, or that dog has been spayed or neutered.

C. An animal license shall be issued after payment of the applicable fee, said license expiring on December 31st of a given year, the applicable fees are as follows:

D. Such licenses must be obtained by March 31st of each year and, in the event that the licenses are not so obtained by March 31st, or within thirty days of obtaining a dog over six months of age, or within thirty days of moving into the city, then the license fee shall double.

E. A duplicate license may be obtained upon payment of a three-dollar replacement fee.

F. No person may use any license for any animal other than the animal for which it was issued.

G. All persons must present a current rabies vaccination receipt before a city dog license or state certificate of registration can be obtained.

H. Pursuant to RCW Chapter 16.08, the City is required to regulate and issue certificate of registration for dangerous dogs. Such certificate shall be issued on an annual basis with no proration of the fee provided for herein for less than a full year's registration of a dangerous dog. The annual license period shall extend from January 1 through December 31 of each calendar year. It shall be the duty of each owner to obtain a current registration for a dangerous dog prior to January 1 of each licensing period or the cost of registration shall be doubled. The annual fee for registration of a dangerous dog shall be $250.00.
